Macclesfield – Ann Webb Ipock, age 90, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024.
Born in Edgecombe County, NC, she was the daughter of the late George and Annie Dunn Webb. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Aldine Webb Flynn and Geraldine Webb Gardner, and her niece, Libby Flynn Snow.
Ann is survived by her husband of 24 years, Carlton Ipock; his children, Adam Ipock (Cathy), Laura Barrouk (Chuck) and Claude Ipock (Gayle); her grandchildren, Nicholas Ipock, Christopher Ipock (Alaina Wheeler), Bryce Barrouk, Griffin Barrouk, Rachel Ipock, Hayley Ipock, and Austin Ipock. She is also survived by her niece, Teri Harrison (Wilson), and nephews, Woody Gardner (Susan), and Chuck Flynn (Lisa), plus a host of great nieces/nephews, great-great nieces/nephews, extended family members, and close friends.
Ann earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from East Carolina University. She was a retired educator having taught at UNC Pembroke where she was pioneer for women's athletics. She has been selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at UNC Pembroke (Class of 2024) for her contributions to the women's athletic department where she served as coach for both the women's basketball and tennis teams. She also taught in Edgecombe County, Norfolk City, and New York State Public School Systems. Ann was an avid bridge player and she enjoyed playing tennis for many years after her retirement.
A Celebration of Life Service for Ann will be held Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of Pinetops Methodist Church, 111 N. 3rd Street, Pinetops, NC 27864, with Rev. Jason DuVall officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery, Pinetops, NC. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am prior to the service at Pinetops Methodist Church in the Carlton Building.
