Anna Marie Aiken, 89, of Ellwood City passed peacefully on Wednesday May 14 at Northview Estates after a 10 year battle with vascular dementia and complications from diabetes.
Anna was born on Feb 16, 1936 to Angelo and Mary (Scala) Bartolomeo in Ellwood City. She was married to her high school sweetheart, the late Ronald Norgrave Aiken, who passed in 2021. They were married for 66 years. Anna was a member of Holy Redeemer Church where she served at St Agatha's on the Christian Mothers Committee for many years cooking and serving at bingos and annual bazaars. She bowled on a league at Park Lanes and hosted and attended card club for many years. In her younger years, Anna worked at the knitting mill in Ellwood. After raising her family, she cleaned houses, and was an aide on the special needs bus for New Horizon. Anna loved cooking, baking, sewing, decorating and landscaping. She could do just about anything. She designed and Ronnie built most of the modifications in their home. Most of all, she was the best mom and grandma. Anna loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Renee (Leonard) Borselli of Monterey, TN, Mark (Beth) Aiken of New Castle, Roniann "Buffy" Menosky of Ellwood and Amy (Matthew) Shope of Chippewa Twp; grandchildren Jesse and Jeffrey Borselli, Lindsey (Brian) Woroszylo, Matthew (Chelsea) Aiken, Jacob and Molly Menosky, Olivia, Luke, Alaina, Lilly and Lincoln Shope; her 'adopted' granddaughter and caregiver Nichole Eaton; great grandchildren Quinn Woroszylo, Marshall and Zoey Aiken, and Robert Schuster; several nieces and nephews, and sisters in law Rita Bartolomeo and Carol (Donald) Wygal.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents and 7 brothers – Victor, Albert, Orlando, Angelo, Joseph, Ronald and Daniel Bartolomeo.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16th from 5-8 p.m. at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, May 17th at 2:00 p.m. at the Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church, with Father Jim Wehner officiating. Christian Mothers are asked to meet in the back of church at 2:50 to form an honor guard. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
