Mrs. Anna Lee Byrd, 94 entered her eternal rest on Monday, June 9, 2025. Lee, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on February 28, 1931 in Wilkes County. She is preceded in death by her parents, Garnis and Grace Roope and her loving husband Ivan Byrd and several cousins. Mrs. Byrd is survived by some special cousins to cherish her memory. Her cousin, Larry Collins was her caretaker these last few months.

After high school graduation Lee began work in Norfolk, Virginia and Later settled in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She worked 25+ years with Southern Bell, as well as several second jobs at department stores across the Winston area. Lee loved the Lord, her family, her special dachshund friend, Heidi and spending time in her yard. Her azaleas were truly a marvel to see in bloom and she was happiest scratching in the dirt planting a new variety of flowers or bushes. Lee had a strong devotion to her home at 4624 Frandale Drive. Her neighbors were caring and supportive to her after the passing of her husband and became like a second family to her.

There will be a graveside service to honor Mrs. Byrd at Center Baptist Church Cemetery on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Chris Alford officiating.

The family would like to thank Medi Hospice for their care and kindness they have shown to Lee in the past few months. The staff and nurses went above and beyond to aid both Lee and her caregivers during her illness. Memorials can be made to Medi Hospice, 403 S. Main Street, #101, Sparta, NC 28675. The family is also appreciative for the care Lee received at Yadkin Valley Senior Living in Elkin, NC and Twelve Oaks in Mt. Airy, NC.
