Anna Mae Maas

Anna Mae Maas, 81, of Upper Montclair and Cedar Grove, died Saturday, March 29, 2025 at The Atrium at Navesink Harbor, Red Bank, NJ.
Born in San Antonio, TX at Fort Sam Houston, Anna Mae was raised in northern NJ. She graduated from Weehawken High School and Cardinal Cushing College before beginning her career as a secretary at the American Stock Exchange. It was there where she met her beloved husband, Bernie.
Anna Mae and her family later settled in Upper Montclair where she was a parishioner of St. Cassian Church, fondly remembered for her active involvement in parish activities.
She was a familiar presence at the former Cozy End, sharing food and conversation with the "breakfast gang" after daily morning mass. An avid reader, she enjoyed being part of a local book club and was a longtime subscriber to the Wall Street Journal. Music from the former WNEW 1130 AM station regularly played from a radio in which the tuning dial was permanently set. She had many years of happy companionship from her beloved dogs, Princess and Marilyn, with whom she could often be found walking through Anderson Park.
Anna Mae will be remembered for her warm smile, effusive praise, and generous spirit. She was a kind listener who never turned down a prayer request from a friend.
Anna Mae was predeceased by her first husband, Ronald C. Delaroche, in 1968 and her second husband, Bernard H. Maas, in 2000. She is survived by her son, Bernard G. Maas and his wife, MaryEllen as well as her grandchildren, Henry, Warren and Bruna Maas. She also leaves behind two brothers, Michael and Thomas, and a sister, Janet. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, April 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. A mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5 at 10 a.m. at Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials for mass intentions her name may be made to St. Cassian Church, Upper Montclair, NJ.
