Anne Blackford Figel

Anne Blackford Figel, 83, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Doey's House.
Born Tuesday, April 21, 1942, in Martinsburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Wilson Blackford Waddy and the late E. Naomi Waddy.
She is survived by her daughters, Victoria L. Farmer (husband Vince), Liz E. Taylor (husband Sean), and sons, F. Robert Figel (wife Julie), and Christopher T. Figel (wife Gina); brother, Richard L. Waddy (wife Julie); grandchildren, Megan, Matt, Quinn, Brandon, Gabrielle, Kaitlin and Patrick; great grandchildren, Payton and Charlotte as well as her beloved dog Sofi.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, of 58 years, Francis R. Figel, and brother, Paul J Waddy.
Anne graduated from Douglas Freeman High School in Richmond, VA. After high school, Anne graduated from business school and then obtained employment at Mack Trucks Incorporated. Anne married Frank and moved to Clear Spring, MD, where they raised their family and were proprietors of The Valley Market 1985-1997. The couple then moved to Florida and began a real estate career with various local agencies.
While in Florida, they enjoyed going to the beach and movies. Anne was also a precinct Official at the Hillsborough County Election Polling site in Florida. Anne's favorite pastime was occasionally playing slot machines in Charles Town, WV, and scratch-off tickets. Anne enjoyed playing games such as bridge and dice. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling, dancing, and was also an avid reader.
Memorial services will be held Friday, August 1, 2025, at 10:30 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD, with Deacon William Nairn officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
