Anne Marie Verplank
September 26, 1933 - June 20, 2024
Anne Marie Verplank, 90, of Boone, Iowa, passed away at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone on Thursday, June 20, 2024. She was born on September 26, 1933, in Waubay, South Dakota, the daughter of Rev. Palmer and Katherine Rupp (Voth).
Anne graduated from Boone High School in 1949 and the Thompson College of Cosmetology in 1950. She worked as a Cosmetologist her entire life until retiring from Woodward State Hospital in 1996. She was the Cosmetologist there for the last 11 years of her career. On May 3, 1958, she married Willard Verplank in Meadow Grove, Nebraska. From this marriage, the couple had three children: two sons, Edward Verplank and Willard Verplank Jr., and a daughter, DeeAnn Verplank.
Anne was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Boone, Iowa. She loved spending time with her three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her main hobby was reading. When short-term memory affected her reading, she discovered work search books and did them by the 100s her last couple of years. Her favorite topic of conversation was heaven and Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Verplank Sr.; sons, Edward Palmer Verplank and Willard Wayne Verplank Jr.; and parents, Palmer and Katherine Rupp.
Anne is survived by her daughter, DeeAnn Wolf; grandson, Isaac Wolf; granddaughter, Gretta (David) Trammell; granddaughter, Bethany (Luke) Nelson; and great-grandchildren: Nevaeh Trammell, Eden Trammell, Trinity Trammell, Titus Trammell, and Faith Nelson.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home Chapel.
