West Burke, VT: Anthony Phillip DeMasi, age 65, died Friday, August 8, 2025 at his home from an apparent heart attack while doing what he did best: working on his truck.

Tony was born in Mass General Hospital in MA on December 22, 1959, son to the late Pasquale and Rose (Clemente) DeMasi. He was raised and educated in Stoneham, MA, and worked as a machinist at Textron for many years. He moved to Vermont in 1987 with his family and lived on the same property until his death. Tony survived cancer twice all while helping to maintain a farm, excelling in animal husbandry and gardening. He was also a Knight of Columbus. Tony could fix anything from cars and trucks down to small engines, which he greatly enjoyed doing. He was an outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, absolutely loved fishing, cooking, splitting wood, and taking his motorcycle for a ride.

Tony was an active member of the community, serving on the Burke School Board for many years, and spent a lot of time at the school in the mornings greeting students. He was often seen getting coffee at the local shops, willing to talk to anyone and offer advice. He was beloved by the local community, making jokes and greeting everyone with a smile. Tony could often be seen wearing his orange snowsuit and using his tractor to snowblow in the winter.

He is survived by his companion of over 20 years, Denise Anderson, of Newark, 3 daughters: Audra DeMasi of W. Burke, Robyn DeMasi and husband, Ryan Townsend, of Montana, Amara Burr and husband, Chris, of Statesville NC, 2 siblings: Paula DeMasi of VA, Richard DeMasi of Stoneham, MA, and 5 grandchildren: Thayne Wyman, Riddick Wyman, Ruth DeMasi-Townsend, Kaylin and Killian Burr.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 5-7PM on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Guibord-Pearsons Funeral Home, 15 Main Street in Lyndonville. Interment will take place at a later date at the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover, MA.
