Maria Pertesis Fucci

Maria "Yaya" Pertesis Fucci, 82, of Wallingford, passed away in true Maria fashion, feisty until the end on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late Clement Albert Fucci. Maria was born in New Haven on November 22, 1942, and was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Gregory Pertesis. She had worked for St. Raphael's Hospital as an administrative assistant for many years. Maria grew up in the Cove section of New Haven for most of her life until moving to Wallingford. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family to Cape Cod, Aruba and Naples, Florida. Maria's greatest joy was spending time with her family, who she loved unconditionally. Mother of Lisa (Mark) Cooney and Sandra (Louis) Modell. Grandmother of Lauren (Anthony) DeCicco, Andrew (fiancé Jennifer) Cooney, Nicole (fiancé Jeffrey) Modell, and Alexa Modell. Great grandmother of Santino and Carmelo DeCicco. Sister of George (Helen) Pertesis. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and countless lifelong friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Yale New Haven Hospital emergency department staff in Maria's final hours and Tim and Sharon Chester and Margaurita D'Errico for all their care and compassion. The visiting hours will be Wednesday, July 30th from 8:30-11:00 AM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven at 11:30 AM. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum.
