Joseph G. Martone, 73, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 40 years to Anna Maria Martini Martone. Joseph was born in New Haven on November 20, 1951, and was the son of the late Ciro D. Martone Sr. and Margaret Immaculata Mazziotti. He had worked as an area manager for SNET, SBC and AT&T for over 40 years. Joe was a phenomenal softball player and played professionally for several teams such as The New Haven Pilgrims, Bender Plumbing squad, and before playing professional he played for SNET club where he won five state championships and appeared in five national tournaments from 1974-1981. In 1984 with the help of Joe's left-handed power hitting and stellar defense in left field he led his Benders team to the Class A National Championship and was named the MVP of the tournament. Joe was later inducted into the Connecticut Softball Hall of Fame in 2005. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family whom he was very dedicated to and loved them all unconditionally. Loving father of Sara Iannucci and her husband Giancarlo, Steven Martone and his wife Robyn and Josh Martone and his wife Megan. Beloved grandfather of Michael and Daniella Martone. Brother of Elaine Martone, Sonny Martone and the late Albert and Larry Martone. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The visiting hours will be on Thursday, November 13th at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Friday morning, November 14th at 10:00.
