Obituary of Anthony Giusti
Anthony U. Giusti, of Burlington, MA, formerly of Waltham and Newton, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday night, February 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 95 years old.
Born in Concord, MA, Anthony was one of eight children of Albert and Mary Giusti. He grew up in a modest home and with such a large family, he learned early on the importance of cooperation, respect, and love. Having a large family meant spending time together for dinner, holidays, and summer cookouts that brought everyone together.
In 1949, at the age of 19, Anthony enlisted in the Army, and the following year, the Korean War began. He was stationed in Germany as part of the 73rd AAA Battalion during the post-war occupation. He proudly served for four years and was honored with the Army of Occupation Medal and the Korean Service Medal.
After his military service, Anthony returned to Waltham, where a new chapter of his life began. His sister introduced him to Donata Paglia, and a beautiful romance blossomed. They married on June 28, 1953, and together, they built a loving home in Waltham, where they raised their two daughters.
For most of his career, Anthony worked for the Waltham Department of Public Works, and even after retiring, he kept busy with part-time work at Stop & Shop. Outside of work, Anthony had many hobbies that brought him joy. He took great pride in his summer gardens, often sharing his harvest of tomatoes with family and friends. He was an active participant in several bowling leagues, enjoyed golfing, and had a passion for playing cards with family and friends. Anthony also had a love for the thrill of testing his luck-whether it was at the horse or dog races, day trips to Foxwoods or Twin River Casinos, or his many visits to Las Vegas, where he always seemed to hold his own.
But more than anything, Anthony's life revolved around his family. Together with Donata, they created a home full of love and warmth, and their 71 years of marriage is a testament to that bond. Their dedication to their daughters and grandchildren was unmatched, as they provided the love and support that shaped their family's future. Anthony was very proud of his daughters and encouraged them to be the best they could be, do what made them happy and to always seek new opportunities.
Becoming a grandfather brought Anthony immense joy. He and Donata moved to Burlington in 2001 to live with Debbie and Clint. With Tyler and Christopher born in 2002 and 2006 respectively, both became an integral part of their lives. Whether it was dropping them off and picking them up at Daycare, taking them to McDonald's, Dunkin' Donuts, or just spending time together, Anthony was always there, a constant source of love and guidance.
It was easy to see that nothing brought Anthony more happiness than spending time with his daughters, son-in-law and grandsons. His life was simple but full of love, centered around the people he cherished most. His humility and devotion to family made him a man whose memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
Anthony was the beloved husband of Donata (Paglia) Giusti. He was the proud father of Diana Giusti & her companion Joseph Kerigan of South Weymouth and Debra Williams & her husband Clinton of Burlington. He was the proud grandfather of Tyler and Christopher Williams. He was the brother of Elizabeth Hart of Waltham, Joseph Giusti of FL, the late John Giusti, Thomas Giusti, Emilio Giusti, Theresa Valdanbrini, and Mary Thompson. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Saturday, February 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 12:30.
