Arlene Coleman, passed away peacefully, on October 3, 2025, surrounded by family and friends in Danbury Hospital. She was born on January 19, 1948, in Candor, New York, to the late David Grandison Birch and Margaret (Ross) Birch.
Arlene retired from a long career at Readers Digest working as an administrative assistant. Arlene will always be known as a servant and helper. She hated to sit idle. She didn't wait to be asked, she just stepped in by washing dishes, changing beds, or doing whatever was needed.
She will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness and kindness. She never showed up empty-handed – always bringing her homemade goodies and thoughtful gifts, (including M&Ms, pretzels, raisin puffs, ginger snaps, and chocolate chip cookies).
Arlene lived a life of faith and was a prayer. She believed in the power of prayer and she believed she was alive the last seven years because of the answered prayers of people who prayed for her.
She was generous. She loved to give money, pay for things, and bless others with an unexpected gifts. She loved to help those in need.
Arlene loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grand babies whenever she could.
She will be sadly missed her husband, Douglas L. Coleman; stepsons Scott (Theresa) Coleman, Mark Coleman, and Bryan (Joy) Coleman; Grandchildren Tyler, Sarah, Aiden, Piper, Luke (Avery) Coleman, Jordan (Zachary) Taylor, Ruth (Fabricio) Fernandez and great-grandchildren Milo and Ronen Taylor. She is also survived by her nephews Kenneth A. Luciani Jr. and Joseph P. Luciani; great-nephews William and Justin Luciani; and great-niece Zoey Luciani.
Arlene was predeceased by her sister, Sarah B. "Sally" Luciani.
A memorial service will be held on November 2 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 95 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, CT 06801. Immediately following, a graveside service at Saint Paul's Memorial Garden, 174 Whisconier Road, Brookfield, Ct 06804. A reception will be held at St. Paul's.
Arlene will be greatly missed by her friends and family, but we take comfort in knowing she is in the arms of God and no longer suffering.
