Arlyne I. Schultz, 95, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025.
Born in Unionville, CT, to Alexander and Catherine Mitchell. A proud graduate of Simsbury High School Class of 1948, Arlyne was an avid athlete in her youth and never lost her competitive spirit. After graduating from High School Arlyne worked for the Hartford Insurance Company in Hartford Ct. In 1952, she enlisted in the United States Navy, where fate led her to meet her beloved husband, James. They married in 1954 and shared 63 beautiful happy years together until his passing, raising a loving family and creating countless cherished memories. The couple lived in Brooklyn, NY, before moving to Allendale in 1975. Arlyne gave back to her community as a lunch aide in the Allendale school system and as a dedicated member of the Allendale Ambulance Corps.
In 2005, Arlyne and James moved to Cedar Crest Village. She was a loyal sports fan, with a deep love for football and an admiration for Tom Brady. Her playful betting traditions with her sons-in-law and grandchildren, often just 25 cents, made game days even more special. Arlyne will be remembered for her deep devotion to her family, her sense of humor, loyalty, fierce independence, and a deep generosity that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Arlyne is survived by her children Kathy Kosmack, Lorraine DeSotle and her husband Bob, James Schultz and his wife Joyce, Eileen Wagoner and her husband Ronnie; her sister Elise Wassell; her grandchildren Christopher Kosmack, Kevin Kosmack and his wife Nicole, Eric Kosmack and his wife Thea, Kathryn Kosmack, Thomas Schultz, Lauren Dillon and her husband Patrick, Renee Guy and her husband David, and Alexa Porcelli; her great-grandchildren Ben, Mackenzie, Harrison, William, Knox, Sutton, Colin, Lily and Ryleigh.
Arlyne was predeceased by her late husband James; her son John; and her son-in law Mark Kosmack.
Visitation will be held 8AM-10AM at Scanlan's Friday April 25, 2025. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's RC Church, Pompton Lakes NJ Friday at 10:30AM. Interment will follow Mass at First Reformed Cemetery, Pompton Plains. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in memory of Arlyne.
