Armand B. Lavoie, Jr., 72, of Tiverton, died Friday unexpectedly at home. He was the husband of Madeline (Santos) Lavoie.

Born in Fall River, a son of the late Armand B. and Sarah (Montgomery) Lavoie, Sr., he resided in Tiverton for the past 39 years.

Mr. Lavoie served in the United States Army.

Mr. Lavoie worked as a ship fitter for Electric Boat in Quonset Point for 24 years, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of Holy Ghost Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and sports.

Besides his wife of 43 years, he is survived by a son, Armand B. Lavoie, III, and his wife Michele of Tiverton, two daughters, Jo-Ann Malloy and her husband Bradley of Tiverton, and Robin St. Pierre and her husband Normand of Lincoln, RI, three brothers, Robert Lavoie of Little Compton, William Lavoie and Donald Lavoie both of Fall River, two sisters, Shirley Holmes of Fall River, and Patricia Perry of Dartmouth, six grandchildren, Nicole, Victoria, Amanda, Jessika, Evan and Erin, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard, Dennis, Stephen Lavoie and Mercedes Lavoie.

His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME 2064 South Main St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Judson St. Tiverton. Interment in Pocasset Hill Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 4 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to Cerebral Palsy of Massachusetts 43 Old Colony Ave. Quincy, MA 02170.
