Arthur Belden Smithwick, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully at Calvert Health Medical Center on August 3, 2023. It has been said that the greatest gift in life is to be unconditionally loved and cherished. Arthur bestowed this gift to his family each and every day!
Arthur was born in Washington, DC on October 20th, 1936, where he resided with his family through his youth. Arthur graduated from Eastern High School where he met the love of his life Joyce Elaine Green, his wife of 64 years. After completing college and graduate school, Arthur went on to have a long and successful career in all facets of Real Estate which included Appraising, Sales and Development. Throughout his career, Arthur was a trusted and respected mentor to many in his field. Arthur’s smile and laughter touched all who knew him.
Arthur was predeceased by his beloved parents, Arthur and Frances Smithwick and his sister, Jacqueline Sears. Arthur is survived by his wife Joyce Smithwick; his daughters Debbie Pritts, Karen McCutcheon, and Denise Bowman (Daniel); his grandchildren Dale Pritts (Miranda), Danielle Solak (John), Caitlin Bowman and Brandon McCutcheon; and his great-grandchildren Declan and Rylee Pritts.
A celebration of Arthur’s life will be held on August 27th, 2023, at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736. Visitation will commence at noon and the Memorial Service immediately follows in the Funeral Home Chapel at 1:30.
