Artis Faye Strunk "Artie" was born May 1, 1946 in Great Bend, Kansas to Albert Barnard and Bonnie Payne. She passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 78. Artis and James Edward Strunk were married December 16, 1968 in Wichita Falls, Texas and have been longtime residents of the Okemah area. She worked alongside Jim in the meat department at Moores IGA in Wewoka for more than 30 years and at Kinnemans in Chandler and many other meat markets. She truly enjoyed being outside working in the garden and flower beds and taking care of her dogs and cats. She also liked working with crafts, painting and spending time with her grandkids who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Linda Rowe; one brother, Howard Barnard and three grandchildren, Maranda LeMay, Michael LeMay and Justin Ty Strunk. Survivors include her husband, James Edward Strunk of the home; three sons, James Strunk II and wife Penny, Jason Strunk and wife Heather and Jon Strunk all of Okemah; two sisters, Wanda Tassin of Marksville, Louisiana and Carolyn Crabtree of Gretna, Louisiana; 7 grandchildren, Brittiny Dawn Castleberry, Nikki Tillery, Victoria, Gabbi and Sarah Krystynak Strunk, Joshua Strunk and Lianna Strunk; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.All arrangements were handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma.Online condolences may be made at www.ParksBrothersFuneralHome.com.
