Ashley Dawn Long Exum Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
WOODLAND, N.C. - Ashley's beautiful soul went to live with Jesus on May 30, 2025. Ashley was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 19, 1982. She was blessed to have lived in multiple locations as her dad served in the military. Many of her years were spent in South Carolina and then she settled in North Carolina.
Ashley proudly served her community as an EMT for several years in Halifax County. She was also very proficient in business; working for Hotsy Equipment, Collier Bookkeeping, and later as a Scentsy consultant. Ashley was a compassionate caregiver to her dad, Cary Long, who preceded her in death. Ashley is the daughter of Paula North and stepfather, Craig North.
Ashley was the first born and has a younger sister, Janine Garbett, and younger brother, Charlie Long. Ashley was overjoyed to become the loving mother to her daughter, Victoria "Tori" Exum. She was so proud to be the Big Sister to her siblings, Mother to Tori, and Bonus Mom to Destinee Brown and Janie Simms! Ashley was an amazing woman and a loyal friend with an adventurous and comical spirit.
Ashley was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and was baptized on April 13, 2025. She truly enjoyed caring for her stunning ducks, tending to her gorgeous variety of flowers while spending time near the pond watching the hummingbirds feast.
A memorial service will be held at her home (pond-side) at 1506 Eagletown Road in Woodland, NC on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 at 1:00pm. Casual dress; wear your favorite sunglasses and flip flops! Light refreshments will be served afterwards.
Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made at NC SECU, PO Box 1177, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, 27870 to the fund set up for Victoria "Tori" Exum.
Ashley's smile and hugs were priceless and irreplaceable. Extended family and friends will continue to mourn her loss for years to come; please keep them lifted in prayer.
Thank you for sharing in this Celebration of Life for ASHLEY!
