Mr. Ayden Gauthier, age 22, of York SC passed away at his home, Sunday, November 24, 2024 after a brief illness.
Ayden was born October 23, 2002, in Lancaster, NH. He was the son of Peter Gauthier (Gorham, NH) and Francine Cardin Mills (
York, SC) and Stephen Mills (
York, SC). As a boy, people in his hometown of Groveton, NH remember him as a kind young boy playing with his cars in his driveway and making friends with anybody that passed by. He would stop all that would entertain a young boy's curiosity and superior dry humor. At the age of 7, he moved to Moultonborough, NH. It was here where he would forge lifelong friendships that he cherished with "his boys". He returned every year to visit his friends and family in NH. At the age of 14, he moved to
York, SC. He still never went a day without visiting, gaming, and texting with his friends. When somebody needed something, Ayden was the one his friends could call on, without judgement, without any need for recognition. Ayden Graduated from York Comprehensive High School and went on to get a business degree from York Technical College. He had just started his career at RPG, as a fulltime sales and customer support specialist, where he had interned through college, and the company saw his potential early and had given him responsibilities well beyond intern level. Ayden loved Racing in all forms. He loved going to live NASCAR events. He was a loyal Martin Truex Jr. fan. He drove a Carolina Mini-Stock himself for 2 seasons, with his dads by his side. They were so proud of him and loved the amount of quality time the three of them got to spend together. He also acted as a Spotter for his Stepdad and Jerred Mitchell, it was here where you could really see his selflessness, as a cheerleader and encourager. He relished the fact that Racing was such a Family Sport. He had hoped to travel much in his adult life and had an opportunity to spend time in Europe this summer, he visited London and Amsterdam. He met up with some decade long gaming friends and finally got to meet them in person. He valued the cultures of other nations and truly appreciated the differences and valued his time abroad. He had hoped to continue traveling as he grew into his career and profession.
Ayden was stubborn to a fault and would not give up on what he set his mind to. He had a wisdom beyond his years and showed a compassion that was so unique. He truly brightened the lives of those around him and would not let you be in a bad mood around him. He exuded whimsy and joy, and was always there as a friend to lean on. He had a distinct sense of humor that could make anyone laugh, and he kept that childhood sense of wonder that was so admirable.
Ayden was a kind, generous and gentle man. Though his time here was far too short, he left his mark on all who knew him. He would want his family and friends to carry on his values and remember to treat each and every one with kindness and grace. To share what you can and give a helping hand whenever possible.
A celebration of life will be held at his home in the spring of 2025.
In Lieu of flowers, Ayden's Family would like for his memory to live on and not be forgotten, so they are in the process of setting up an Ayden Gauthier Memorial Scholarship Fund, where they hope to provide a scholarship opportunity to deserving young men and women from Moultonborough Academy in Moultonborough, NH and York Comprehensive High School in
York, SC.
