Barbara Beck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery on Jan. 3, 2025.
Barbara J Beck, born on July 12, 1930, in Kokomo, Indiana. She departed this world on December 27, 2024, in Evansville, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy as vibrant as her passion for life. Barbara's journey through life was marked by her intelligence, her adventurous spirit, and her passionate devotion to her family, her students, and her community.
Barbara's life was a testament to the power of education. She earned a Master's Degree in Education and enlightened young minds as a German Teacher and Guidance Counselor at Reitz High School. Barbara's love for learning was infectious, and she inspired countless individuals to pursue their dreams with the same fervor that she did.
Family was the cornerstone of Barbara's world. She cherished her daughters, Vicki Beck Caminer and April Lee Beck, her son, Clinton Clifford Beck III, and his wife Wynne Fackler Beck. Barbara's sisters, Mary Sue Martin, Norma Jo Kiper, and Carolyn Dearduff, maintained contact throughout their lives. Her grandchildren, Christi Stone with her husband Jason, Paul Garrett, and Wynnetta Ann Beck, as well as her great-grandchildren, Kaylie and Kyle Stone, and her great-great-grandchildren, Kayden and Levi Stone, were most beloved. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Barbara Beth Beck Garrett, her husband Clinton Clifford Beck Jr and her parents, Joseph Ricketts and Velma Collins.
Barbara's zest for life extended far beyond the classroom. She was a dedicated member of the Central United Methodist Church, an active alumna of the University of Evansville, a supporter of Habitat for Humanity and WNIN, and a committed member of the Democratic Party. Her interests were as diverse as her talents, from traversing the globe to countries such as Greece, Peru, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Turkey and Great Britain, to camping with her family amidst the grandeur of the US National Parks.
Above all, Barbara J Beck was a woman who lived life to the fullest. She was intelligent, not just in the academic sense, but in her understanding of her fellow humans.
As we celebrate the life of Barbara J Beck, let us remember her with love. Barbara's story does not end here; it lives on in each person she touched, in every life she inspired, and every dream she encouraged.
Barbara J Beck's life was a remarkable journey-a journey that encouraged us to reach for the stars, to fight for justice and to cherish every moment. May we all strive to live with the same courage, the same curiosity, and the same love that she embodied. Her legacy is not one of mere memory, but of action, inspiration, and the unyielding belief that we, too, can make a difference in this world. Let us honor her by living as she did.
A Celebration of Life to honor Barbara will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on January 31, 2025 at 10am with service at 12noon and burial to immediately follow.

My name is Ollie Gill I am a friend of April one of her sweet daughters. April and I went to the museum with her and we ate lunch at her house she was very nice. I know how hard it is to lose a mother but there is hope. When Jesus was on the earth he resurrected three people and he will do it again. What a joyful time that would be! Women's sympathy for the family. Ollie M Gill.
