Barbara A. Bouwkamp, 93, a lifelong resident of Lafayette passed away Monday, March 27, 2023 at Franciscan East Hospital.
Barbara was born December 10, 1929 in Lafayette, IN, to the late Fred and Minnie (Goris) Smith. She was a 1948 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.
On September 17, 1951 she married the love of her life Francis "Wayne" Bouwkamp at Lafayette Christian Reformed Church. He preceded her in passing on December 18, 2022.
Barbara was a Clerk for Woolco Department Store for 10 years. She was an 80-year member of Lafayette Christian Reformed Church where she sang in the choir and played the organ. She was also part of the Ladies Sewing Group at the church. She enjoyed reading, knitting and traveling.
Surviving are her grandchildren: Julie (Eric) Bray and Paul (Rosie Prescott) Webster; great grandchildren, Jadea Ann Nour, Hayden Bray, Faith Bray, and Hope Bray; nephew, Morris (Darla) Smith; niece, Sally (Dr. David) Coates; and sister-in-law, Wilma Jonker.
Along with her husband, Wayne, she is preceded in passing by her daughter, Denise Webster; son-in-law, Ronald Webster; three brothers, Fred, Bob and Bill Smith; and brother-in-law, Hank Jonker.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 31st from 1-2 pm at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 2 pm with Pastor Mark Withers officiating. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
