On Saturday, January 28, 2023 Barbara J. Craig, a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully of natural causes. She was born on December 8, 1935, to Cornelia and Archie Kennedy in Austin, TX.
After graduating from Austin High School, Barbara opened a dance studio in Austin, TX., where she shared her love of dance with many students. In 1974, she moved herself and her two daughters from Austin to Odessa to join Berkley G. Craig, Jr. in marriage. She eventually opened a dance studio in Odessa.
While living in Odessa she volunteered at the arts center, where she donated her time to landscaping design. She was an avid gardner, earning the title of Master Gardner and later became the president of the Permian Basin Master Gardner's Association. She was very fond of the native plants of west Texas where she helped to beautify Odessa. Her unique taste, won her awards for landscaping in her own yard.
She and Berkley shared many wonderful adventurous years together traveling, playing tennis, snow-skiing, dancing and gardening. Having acquired her love of animals from her father, she and Berkley adopted several cats and a special four legged dog, whom they named Homer. Barbara's zest for life and love of people, attracted many to her side making them lifelong friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Berkley. She is and survived by her two daughters, Julie and Jane Ellen, Granddaughters, Hannah and Heather and three Great Grandchildren, Steely, Ryann and Baker.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 1-2 PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown with the funeral service beginning at 2 PM.
