Barbara D'Agostino passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, after a short illness.
Barbara grew up in Whippany, NJ and attended Boonton High School where she met and married her husband Peter and went on to become the loving mother of five children.
She lived in Montville for many years before moving to Boonton Twp.
As a young woman, Barbara worked in the offices of New Jersey Bell Telephone before becoming a full-time homemaker. While raising her children, she was an Avon Lady, sharing her love of makeup and fragrances with the residents of Montville and Boonton.
Later on, she was employed as the secretary for St. Pius X Church in Montville for more than two decades. Barbara and her husband Peter were also founding members of St. Pius X Church, where she still has many friends.
Barbara retired at the age of 71 and moved to Hamburg, NJ. She loved living in Sussex County, with the slower pace and beautiful green hills. But she would never give up her coveted Daily Record newspaper, so she could keep tabs on the happenings in Morris County!
She became a member of St. Jude’s The Apostle parish, where she made many friends and participated in bible study and social events.
Barbara was very dedicated to her family. She was the main caretaker for her mother and father later in their lives and was a kind and caring daughter-in-law to Dominic and Anna.
Barbara is survived by her children: Patricia Schroeder and her husband Gary; daughter Jean Shea; daughter Mary Alexander; son Mark D'Agostino and his wife Cheryl; daughter Chris Ann Patrick and her husband Christopher; grandson Travis Monahan and his wife Stacey; granddaughter Amanda Cooper and her husband William and her great-grandsons Keegan Monahan and Wyatt Monahan.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Peter D'Agostino, son-in-law Leo Alexander and grandson Ethan Stickle.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Liturgy of Christian Burial 10:00am Friday October 17, 2025 at St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church, 10 N Pocono Road, Mountain Lakes, NJ. Interment: Gate of Heaven, East Hanover. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the Par-Troy Funeral Home, 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany, NJ.
