Barbara Franey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Serenity Funeral Care on Dec. 14, 2025.
Barbara Ann Franey, 82, of Edgewood, KY, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025. Born in Cincinnati, OH, on February 4, 1943, she was the daughter of the late William and LaVaun Franey. Barbara dedicated 45 years of service to the University of Cincinnati, retiring as Assistant Director of Parking Services. Known for her strong work ethic, warm spirit, and commitment to her colleagues, she formed many lifelong friendships throughout her career. Beyond her professional life, Barbara found joy in traveling. Her many trips with her cousin Sandy-especially to San Francisco-were among her fondest memories. She loved the cool coastal weather, long walks across the Golden Gate Bridge, and the simple pleasure of exploring the city's unique sights. Barbara also had a deep affection for animals, particularly dogs and cats, and she enjoyed spending time at the casino for a bit of fun and excitement. Family was central to Barbara's life. She cherished every moment spent with her parents and held close the memories they shared. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Franey, and her loyal canine companion, Bell Bell. Barbara leaves behind her cousin, Sandy (Bruce) McGeorge; her adoptive sister, Paula (Jeffrey) Nipper; and her adoptive grandchildren, Sarah, Mathew, and Brandon Nipper. Their love and support brought great comfort and fulfillment to her life. Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Online condolences may be shared on Facebook or at SerenityFuneralCare.com. Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, loyalty, and the gentle warmth she brought to everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
