Robert J Franey

Robert J Franey, 84, of Cotuit, passed away at home surrounded by his family on July 1, 2025. Loving husband of Dottie M. Franey of Cotuit.
Born in Abington, MA, son of the late John J. and Eileen (McCarthy) Franey, he was the second of eight children. Robert graduated Abington High School and Boston College. He supervised the laboratory at Brockton Hospital and then the Cape Cod Hospital. In 1979 he founded Franey Medical Laboratories.
Robert was a longtime member of the American Association of Clinical Chemists and the Knights of Columbus at Christ the King Church. He enjoyed fishing and golf, but most of all loved spending time with his family. His boating escapades, family vacations and cookouts were legendary.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert J Franey and his wife Amy of West Barnstable, Patrick M. Franey and his wife Pamela of Middleboro, Erin P. Eastman and her husband William of West Barnstable, and Kathleen M. Franey-Stewart and her husband William of Marstons Mills. His siblings, Richard Franey of Abington, Michael Franey of Abington, Jack Franey of Carver, Joseph Franey of Abington, Mary Ellen Aia of Bridgewater, Leanne Bombardier of East Bridgewater, and the late James Franey, as well as his grandchildren, John, Ryan, Luke, Sarah, Brenden, Liam, Michael, Robert "RJ", and the late Nicholas Eastman.
Visitation will be on Tuesday July 8, 2025 from 4-7 PM in the Chapman Funeral & Cremations, John-Lawrence Chapel, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday July 9 at 10 AM in Christ the King Church, Job's Fishing Road, Mashpee, MA. Burial will follow in Crocker Park Cemetery, West Barnstable.
