Barbara Fay Maxson of Sanford, Michigan, died on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Candlestone Assisted Living in Midland. She was born on May 30, 1933, in Van Wert, Ohio; one of nine children of John and Flossie (Roberts) Harman.

Barbara loved board games and was an avid euchre player. Her strategic mind and competitive spirit making her a formidable opponent and a sought-after partner. Her laughter was a familiar and welcome sound at the card tables, and her presence made every game more enjoyable.

She had a particular fondness for the Detroit Tigers, and her enthusiasm for her team was infectious.

Casino trips were a special treat for Barbara. She approached these adventures with the same positivity and optimism that she carried throughout her life.

Barbara married Edward J Maxson, the love of her life on October 6, 1951, in the living room of Edward's mother's house in Van Wert, Ohio. He preceded her death on May 10, 2023.

Barbara is survived by her children John Maxson (Dawn), Karen Hess (Ward), Julie Money (Jack), Jay Maxson (Terrie), and Nancy Molino (Chris); 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

A private committal service will be held at the Jerome Township Cemetery in Sanford, Michigan, in the near future.

Memorials in Barbara's name may be made to the Sanford American Legion Post 443.
