Barbara Jean Mertens, age 76, of Staples, passed away unexpectedly at her home on November
27, 2022. Barb was born on April 22, 1946, in Little Falls to Lawrence & Anna (Lajesse) Colombe.
Barb worked as a receptionist at the Staples Veterinary Clinic for 33 years. She loved spending
time with her granddaughter. She was a very neat and tidy woman. A friend to everyone.
Barb will be forever missed by her children, Teresa (Dennis) Winzenburg and Mike Corner;
granddaughter, Amber Winzenburg; sister, Shirley Colombe.
Barb is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Joseph Corner; second husband, Robert
Mertens; significant other, Larry Delaney.
A funeral service for Barb will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11AM at Trinity Lutheran
Church. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran church on Thursday, December 1, 202 from 4-7PM
and Friday, one hour before the service. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery.
