Obituary of Barbara Crosby Meyerhoeffer
Barbara Ann Crosby Meyerhoeffer, 92, of Owasso, OK, passed away on April 30, 2024. She was born on December 18, 1931, in Staunton, VA, to Lily and Lloyd Crosby. Barbara married David Meyerhoeffer, the love of her life, on September 5, 1953. Married for 66 years, they were an amazing example of a Christlike marriage for their friends and family.
Barbara is survived by her loving children: Carlyle and wife Jane, Kent and wife Debi, Jane Dunbar, and husband Bob. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Gerrod Chadwell and wife Stacy, Jeniece Hoffman and husband Chad, Meg Arnold and husband Scott, Meryl Crimmins and husband Will, Crosby Dunbar, and Preston Dunbar. Barbara was also cherished by her great-grandchildren: Reed and Chase Arnold, Quinn and Liam Crimmins, Ava Felton, and Chesnee Chadwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lily and Lloyd Crosby, her brother Jimmy Crosby and his wife Betty, and her husband David Meyerhoeffer.
Barbara graduated from Madison College in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Virginia Medical College in Richmond, VA, with a degree in Medical Technology.
Throughout their married life, Barbara and David lived in El Paso, TX, Yonkers, NY, Blacksburg, VA, Alcoa, TN with most of their years in Jeanerette, LA and El Reno, OK, before moving to Owasso, OK. Everywhere they lived, they gathered friends and soon friends became family, and everyone was always welcome in their home.
Barbara stayed home when the children were small and when they were all in school, she went back to work. She found satisfaction in her work as the medical technologist at Canadian Valley Clinic for many years.
Barbara was happiest when she was cooking, gardening, and sewing. Volunteering every Sunday to rock the babies in the nursery also gave her great joy.
A service to honor Barbara's life will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in El Reno, OK.
Barbara Ann Crosby Meyerhoeffer will be remembered as an excellent cook, a good friend, and a wonderful mom and grandmother.
Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church El Reno Building fund.
