Barbara S. O'Bryan

O'BRYAN, BARBARA S., 84, of Louisville passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Episcopal Church Home.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert Leo O'Bryan; two daughters, Janine O. McIntosh (Dr. Phillip), Barbara Shenoy, (Ramesh) and son, Mark O'Bryan (Alice); eight grandchildren, Ryan McIntosh (Kelsey), Claire M. Samuel, Kiran Shenoy, Anjali Shenoy, William O'Bryan, George O'Bryan, Charlie O'Bryan and Teddy O'Bryan; and two great-grandchildren, Carter Samuel and Lenna Samuel; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Breitenstein Sabel; her brothers, Joseph P., John Jr. and Louis A,; and her sisters, Elizabeth B. Striegel and Sister Clara Ann Sabel, SCN.
Born on September 27, 1940, Barbara was a native Louisvillian educated at Presentation Academy and Spalding College. She was a retired secretary at the Jefferson County Public School headquarters, and a member of Our Mother of Sorrows parish, associate member of Ascension parish as well as a Columbiette with the Knights of Columbus.
A world traveler, lover of sweets, devoted fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and friend to all, Barbara leaves us with a lifetime of memories and an absence that will never be filled.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2 at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 760 Eastern Parkway at 10 a.m. with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 1, at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Rd. from 3-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hosparus Health of Louisville, National MS Society or Presentation Academy.
