Funeral Services for Mrs. Barbara Mulkey Pollard, age 87 of Lineville, will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Bellview Baptist Church with Rev. Jacob Wilkerson and Rev. Wayne Adams officiating. Burial will follow at the Lineville City Cemetery.
Barbara Ann Mulkey was born on December 14, 1937, in Clay County to Charles and Anne Mulkey. She was the first of 6 children. At the age of 17 she moved to Chicago, IL where she lived until 1978 when she moved to Lighthouse Point, FL. She returned home to Lineville in 1981 to purchase the house that sat directly across the street from the house she left in 1954. She had various occupations including restaurant ownership, working in a real estate and loan office, pharmacy assistant, and finally settling into property ownership and management. She was an enthusiastic and staunch supporter of her beloved Clay County, working tirelessly to promote community and well-being for all its citizens. Some of the projects she was involved in live on today and hopefully will continue for many more years to come such as Christmas in the Park, Heritage Day, Summer Sizzle, and the Blueberry Festival. She was a member of The Merchant's Association, Clay County Arts League and served on the Lineville Parks Board and the Downtown Redevelopment Board. She was married to the love of her life, Billy R. (B.R.) Pollard, until his untimely death in 1995 due to a brain aneurysm. Her personal interests revolved around family and church. She attended Bellview Baptist Church where her father was ordained as a minister many years before. She was a Sunday School Teacher, a choir member, and participated in a jail ministry and a homebound food ministry. She had a life rich with family and friends, and a heart for animals. She was instrumental in starting the Clay County Animal Shelter. Barbara passed from this life to her new home in heaven on August 31st at the age of 87.
Mrs. Pollard is survived by her siblings: Ruth Spurlin, Jerrie Taylor, and Jim Mulkey, all of Lineville; her step-son, Tommy Pollard (Jo) of Dadeville, and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles Harden and Annie Bell Crawford Mulkey; her husband, B.R. Pollard; and one sister, Jennie Steed.
Active Pallbearers will be Billy Conner, Jimmy Lindsey, Charlie Wright, Cliff Carden, J.T. Wilkerson, and Randy Davis.
Her visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Bellview Baptist Church beginning at 12:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
