Mrs. Gibson passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at her home. She was a member at Bethel South Baptist Church and was raised and lived in the Mountain Community. She enjoyed baking cakes and loved her roses. Visits from friends were always special and she loved her family. She held many jobs over the years but her favorite was the years spent as a teacher's aide at Mellow Valley High School. Mrs. Gibson was a grandmother and great-grandmother to so many, and was very special to all who knew her.
She is survived three sons: Kenneth Gibson of Alex City, Donald Gibson(Amy) of Mountain Community and Edward Gibson(Theresa) of Frog Eye Community; one daughter: Janet Robertson(Dwayne) of Mellow Valley; Grandchildren: Jaycie and Brooklyn Robertson, Steven Randolph(Chelsea), Joey Randolph, Jade Randolph, Brian Black(Donna), Dylan Ragsdale, Sean Battles, Katie Benefield(Lawson), John Welsh(Kirby), Lacy Welsh Bailey(Adam), and Autumn Kinder(Jonathan); Great-Grandchildren: Kiley, Katelyn and Kollin Black, Bristol and Cord Bailey, Boone and Brae Welsh, Hunter and Rosie Randolph, Luke and Landry Kinder and Avery and Ellie Benefield; brother, Thurber Colley of Mellow Valley; sister, Marcelle Smith of Alexander City; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elwyn "Hoot" Gibson; parents, JC and Lizzie Alford Colley; infant daughter, Karen Gibson; sister, Willian McDaniel; brother, Gerald Hugh Colley and daughter-in-law, Angel Gibson.
Active Pallbearers will be Randy Allen, Brian Black, Kollin Black, John Welsh, T.C. Colley, Chris Colley, Dylan Ragsdale, and Harold Humphrey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Reubin Kennedy, and the Deacons of Bethel (South) Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville. She will lie in state from 2:00 P.M. until service time at 3:00 PM at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Bethany Community Cemetery Fund, C/O Glen Kennedy; or to Bethel (South) Baptist Church, C/O Michael Cheaney.
Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
