Barbara Rae Schmall, 81, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, IL.
Barbara was born on March 6, 1944, in Dixon, the daughter of Roy and Dorothy (Kennedy) Farster. She married Glenn Schmall on September 3, 1960, at the First Christian Church in Dixon. He preceded her in death on October 9, 2022. In her early years, Barbara enjoyed playing softball and Euchre, going dancing with her husband Glenn, and throwing Super Bowl parties. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed making her family their favorite meals on their birthdays. In her later years, she loved to watch Hallmark movies and Jeopardy (she would get tickled whenever she got a question right). Her memory will live on in the love she had for her family and the many children she cared for over the years.
Barbara is survived by her children, Chip Schmall of Blair, WI, Tracy (Bill) Young of Dixon; five grandchildren, Tyler Schmall, Courtney (Peter) Schmall, Forrest (Lauren) Schmall, Riley (Megan) Young, Renata (Rob) Young; honorary grandson, Cristian "Smitty" Smith; six great-grandchildren, Reign, Andie, Scarlett, twins Luna and Gunnar, Willow; brother, Shane Farster; sister-in-law, Rae Farster; and many nieces & nephews. Barbara was a commemorative grandma to Alex Didier.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Robert Farster, Ed (Wanda) Farster; four sisters, Betty (Frank) Morgan, Wilma (George) Austin, Elva Jane (Marvin) Weber, and Dorothy (Bud) Theis.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:30 am on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Living Well Church of the Nazarene in Dixon, with Pastor John Trotter, officiating. There will be a Luncheon at the church following services. Private Burial of cremated remains will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon at a later date. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
