Barbara E. Seburn, 91, of Lee’s Summit Missouri, passed away March 19, 2024, at John Knox Village, surrounded by her friends who will miss her cheerful disposition and ready wit. Barb was born in Kansas City MO to Opal Wilson Seburn and Thomas Seburn, a beloved only child. She graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City MO in 1949, and Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas in 1953. Barb was a member of the Tri Delta Social sorority and Alpha Psi Omega, Honorary Drama Society. She worked in the US Foreign service in Washington DC and Paris France before she came back to Kansas City. Barb retired from Black and Veatch International in Kansas City in 1994 after working for them for 20 years. In her years with Black and Veatch International she worked all over the world, including Egypt, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Thailand where she collected many fascinating tales.

Barb was a people person with many friends but her first love was her dogs. She was a volunteer with the Heart of America Humane Society where she served as treasurer.  She was a foster mom to at least a hundred dogs, finding them forever homes and mentoring other foster parents.

Barb was an active member of Longview Chapel Christian Church in Lee’s Summit, and a memorial will be held there Monday, April 1st at 3:00 with an ice cream reception to follow. Memorial contributions of dog and cat food will be collected for the Outreach Program at Heart of America Humane Society. Donations in her name can be made to the Heart of America Humane Society or Longview Chapel Christian Church.
