Obituary of Barbara Ann Stuart
Barbara Ann Stuart (born Schlitt) unexpectedly returned to her Father in Heaven on October 16, 2021 at the age of 70 in Sun City Center, Florida. She was a resident of Kings Point for 3 years and found many wonderful friends there before her passing.
She was born September 15, 1951 in New York, New York to the late Robert Richard Schlitt and Violet Joan Debreceny.
Barbara attended Newtown High School in Queens, New York, and was a member of the ARISTA honor society and Mensa International. She later attended The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, received a Bachelors degree in Logistics from University of Nevada Las Vegas, and completed further coursework through Central Michigan University. Barbara's professional career spanned over 30 years for various companies, including Stone and Webster, Shell Oil, Florida Power and Light, and the United States government among others. Her intelligence, affability, and versatility enabled her to excel in contracting, management analysis, project management, records management, and engineering among other positions, doing many of these jobs prior to completing her bachelor's degree.
Barbara loved her country and lived in various states throughout on both the East and West Coasts and in Texas. She was a talented and incredibly skilled square dancer, dancing at the highest level of Challenge 3A. She loved visiting many beautiful cities to attend square dance conventions. She enjoyed puzzles, mind challenging games like Scrabble, collector's items, jewelry, and cooking. She had a gift for transforming fixer-upper homes into attractive, inviting atmospheres. She had a beautiful alto voice and sang in various choirs throughout her life.
Barbara spent much of her life seeking a relationship with God and a community with whom to fellowship. She found it in her 60s and was baptized a member of Alamo Heights Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in San Antonio, Texas, prior to moving to Florida. She loved Bible Studies, her congregation, and her pastors, and she was grateful to resume participation remotely from Florida when the pandemic began.
She is survived by her sister, Jane Pittman, her daughter, Christina Wilson and husband (Kenny), her younger daughter Dianna Graham and husband (David), her 7 grandchildren, Joshua, Sophie, Joseph, Aidan, Jesse, Ian, and Mira, and her nephew, Lucas.
