Forever In Our Hearts
Barbara Ann Wright, age 82, of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on August 1, 1943, in Richmond, California, to Buster Eugene Hall and Benny Euline Harrison. On October 11, 1963, in Clovis, New Mexico, she married the love of her life, James Don Wright, and together they built a beautiful family rooted in faith, love, and devotion.
Barbara dedicated her life to being a homemaker, wife, and mother, finding her greatest joy in caring for her family. A devoted Christian, she loved studying the Bible and listening to her favorite Christian music, which brought her peace and joy. She was known for her generous spirit and selfless heart-always willing to help others, even if it meant giving the shirt off her back. She will be remembered as a loving and faithful wife, a devoted mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother whose love and kindness touched everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband, James Don Wright; her children, Jimmy Vandever of Lawton, Oklahoma and Tamara Wright of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Kay and Wendell Riggs of Muldrow, Oklahoma, Mark and Cindy Wright of Van Buren, Arkansas, Robert and Ann Wright of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Nanette Wright of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Teresa and Anthony Robb of Checotah, Oklahoma, Brian Wright of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Tonya and Bryan Wilburn of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Latasha and Leonard Scheumack of Russellville, Arkansas. Barbara was blessed with twenty-nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her siblings, Judy and Larry Cummins of West Pueblo, Colorado, Linda Ely of Dumas, Texas, Janet and Ray Dean of Harlingen, Texas, and Gene and Delynn Hall of Chilton, Texas, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Benny Euline Hall and Buster Eugene Hall; her sons, Mike Vandever, Donny Wright, James Wright, and Scotty Wright; her granddaughters, Kirsten Wright and Ashley Wright; and her brother, Jimmy Hall. Her best friend and beloved dog, Xander.
There will be no formal service. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on October 18th, 2025, at Carol Ann Cross Park, located at 1601 S 74th St, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories in honor of Barbara's beautiful life. Her love, faith, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
