Fire Captain Barry A. Consolazio, 79, died unexpectedly on February 7, 2023 at Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of Andra L. (Smith) Consolazio & was born in Beverly to the late Harry A. and Ethel (White) Consolazio.
Educated at Beverly High School followed by attending Northern Essex Community College, he served the City of Beverly as a firefighter for 29 years, was promoted as the city's first Safety Training Officer and retired at the rank of Captain. He also served in the Army National Guard before working at the United Shoe Machinery Corporation in the accounting department. "Mr. C" as he was called by his players, enjoyed sports of all kinds and coached Kiwanis YMCA youth basketball and Beverly Little League Baseball. He enthusiastically attended many games and practices for his children and grandchildren. Honoring his grandfather, an original founding member of the Patria E Lavoro Society, he served on the scholarship committee & as president for many years. An avid boater, he navigated New England waters and served as Commodore at Circle Yacht Club in Quincy. When he wasn't traveling to distant harbors he enjoyed his mooring at Big Misery Island in Salem Harbor. His outstanding secret clam chowder recipe will remain a secret but will be brought to future family holiday gatherings.
In addition to his wife Andra with whom they shared 53 years of marriage, he is survived by his two sons, Fire Captain Peter A. Consolazio and his wife Joella (Ricciani) of Ft. Myers, FL, Brian A. Consolazio and his wife Lauren A. (Carusi) of Wenham, his daughter, Pamela A. Consolazio, and her husband Ryan Mackay of North Reading; six grandchildren, Allana, Alexa, Dominic, Elizabeth, Maxwell, Shane, and many grand-dogs.
A memorial service will be held promptly at 3:15 pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Danversport Yacht Club's LightHouse Room, 161 Elliott St. Danvers, MA 01923 immediately followed by a collation until 5:30 pm. So sad to lose another friend. We had many great times together. The boat, parties at your house for many occasions, The ICC and so many others. It has been a long time since we have been together, but we will never, ever forget the times we were. With our love--Brian and Linda
