Barry Roussel Obituary

After Barry graduated from Leon Godchaux High School in 1973, he enjoyed a 34-year career at Shell Oil Refinery in Norco, Louisiana. He retired in 2019 and enjoyed pursuing new hobbies and traveling. He was an avid antique "picker" and enjoyed a good, long road trip with many stops in small town antique and collectible stores. He especially loved the Shell memorabilia he discovered as he traveled the United States.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deloris "Dodie" Brewer Roussel; a daughter Jenny Roussel Bourgeois (Jeremy); Bonus children Michael Roper (Shelly), and Angela Roper Sterling (Kevin). He is also survived by his grandchildren Ethan, Zachary, Shelby, Seth, Kailyn, and Kaleb; and great-grandchildren Brenn Hadley and Levi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anicet and Mae Roussel; his sister, Charlene Roussel Stephens; and a great-grandchild, Bea Bexley Moss.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190 W. Hammond, LA 70401, on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor David Cranford to officiate.
In lieu of flowers please remember Barry fondly as you browse an antique store, hear a good story and enjoy a hearty laugh, and as you enjoy and cherish your family and friends.

My deepest condolences during this time of loss. I have fond memories of Barry in high school. Barry shared his love for his family, antiquing, and traveling through his Facebook page. He was a good man and will be missed by many. Keeping you in my prayers.
