Barry Wane Tarwater - age 66 of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Cameron Nursing and Rehab in Cameron. Barry was born on June 16, 1958, the son of John Meiller and Betty Jean (Watson) Tarwater in Jamesport, MO. He was a 1976 graduate of Gallatin High School and attended Trenton Junior College. He was a dedicated member of Maywood Baptist Church where he was involved in the gift ministry and youth ministry. Barry also enjoyed being a greeter. He was a unique and amazing person created in the image of God. Barry had read the Bible through every year for 24 years. Barry loved collecting DVDs, Books and CDs. He was a kind and humble man; a true gentleman. Barry had a remarkable memory often recalling dates and sports statistics. He loved sports, particularly the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Barry will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Barry was preceded in death by his mother, Betty; his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Evalee Watson; paternal grandparents, Dewey and Lillian Tarwater. He is survived by his father, John Meiller Tarwater of Cameron, MO; sister, Tara Tairent (Alan) of Gallatin, MO; and three nieces, several great nieces and great nephews; cousins and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Maywood Baptist Church in care of the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Maywood Baptist Church in Independence, MO. There is no scheduled visitation.
