We announce with sadness the loss of our beloved Batholomew Moran: husband, son, grandson, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many. Bart, born in Evanston at St. Francis Hospital on May 20, 1970, passed away peacefully at Illinois Masonic Hospital on June 22, 2025 with his beloved wife, Robbie, holding his hand.
Bart is survived by Robbie Carter Moran, whom he married at the Palmer House on August 20, 2010. Also surviving are his mother, Cecilia Meyer Moran, his sister Heloise Moran Pechan (David Pechan), brother Max Moran (Kathi), brother Liam Moran (Sara), brother Anthony Moran (Megan), and brother Adam Moran (Debra).
Bart, lovingly embraced by the Carter family upon his marriage, also leaves behind all his in-laws: Robbie's brother, Tommie Carter (Donna), Robbie's sister, Dr. Hope Carter (Tony Rielage) and Robbie's sister, Dana Carter.
Bart is predeceased by his beloved sister, Beatrice Moran, his father, William Bernard Moran, his maternal grandparents, Josephine and Max Meyer, his paternal grandparents, Catherine and William Moran, and his in-laws, Bernie and Barry Carter.
Bart grew up in Northbrook, where he wrestled and played football for Glenbrook North High School. Upon his 1988 graduation, he enrolled at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating with a degree in Sociology in 1992. Upon graduation, Bart began the first of many backpacking trips through Europe, which sparked his life-long love of travel. Bart intended to become a police officer, but he chose a different route and went to work for the Chicago Tribune, rising through the ranks to become head of nighttime printing operations. At work, he eventually met Robbie Carter, his boss of many years. Bart and Robbie became friends, and had a wonderful professional relationship. When Robbie moved on in her career, Bart invited her for a drink - and their romance began. After their marriage, they experienced years of world travel and adventures together, making their home in the Chicago neighborhood of Buena Park. Their marriage, a true partnership, was filled with love, laughter, and good times with their extended families - especially their 11 nieces and nephews.
Bart, an avid reader, student of history, world traveler, a quick wit with a dark celtic sense of humor, and Chicago enthusiast, was also a bon vivant who enjoyed taking his nieces and nephews on fun escapades. He and Robbie liked nothing better than to try out new restaurants and to share their finds with others.
Bart - truly a man for all seasons - loved life, loved his family and he loved Robbie the most of all.
Visitation Friday, June 27 from 4 to 8 pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 28 at 10 am at St. Norbert & Our Lady of the Brook, 1809 Walters Ave., Northbrook. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery.
