Funeral Service at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK, Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 2:00 pm. A Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel in Walters, OK.
Belva Jo (Mullins) Vardell was born to Theodore and Ada Hazel (Damron) Mullins on December 20, 1936 in Temple, OK and departed this life in Marlow, OK on November 14, 2025 at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 25 days.
Belva grew up at Temple, graduating from THS in the Class of 1954. She worked for a time as a telephone operator in Lawton before meeting Ramon Vardell who was in Walters on leave from the Marine Corps. They married 2 weeks later on October 6, 1956 at the Baptist parsonage in Walters and soon moved to Henderson, NV. For many years to come they would live the life of a Marine Corps family, living in Nevada, California, Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina, with several stays in Temple as their home town. Upon Ramon’s Retirement in 1974, the family made Walters their home and Belva went to work at Haggar’s in Temple, working there until February of 1986.
Belva grew up a member of First Baptist Church in Temple, but through the years has also enjoyed attending at Walters First Baptist and First United Methodist in Walters. She enjoyed watching Little House on the Prairie, talk shows like Jerry Springer, soap operas, American Pickers and watching the Dallas Cowboys. She also loved attending garage sales, evening walks and time spent with her family at the hunting lease.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Vardell in 2010; her son, Tim Vardell; her parents Tedo and Ada Mullins; her sister, Velora Bowers; and her brother, Billy Mullins.
Survivors include her daughter, Monica Chrismon and Donnie of Cyril, OK; her son, Kevin Vardell and Kayla of Grapevine, TX; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Vardell of Garland, TX; her sister, Connie Smith of Walters; 10 grandchildren and spouses, Aaron and Brooke Evans, Aric and Jennifer Evans, Kristopher and Kathleen Vardell, Kendall Vardell, Savannah and JC Pacheco, Amanda and CJ Neckar, Cody Vardell, Dustin and Missy Chrismon, Cole and Kalyn Chrismon, Jennifer and Matt Sanders; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
