Benjamin Franklin Herring, better known as "DUKE" was born on August 26, 1952 to Lawrence Herring Sr. and Nezzie Octavia Herring of Gainesville, GA.
Duke departed this life Thursday, April 10, 2025.
He married the love of his life, Aleta Ann Thompson Herring. He loved his family very much and had a big heart, as he was very compassionate towards others.
Benjamin (Duke) attended seventh-day-Adventist church of Atlanta, Ga, where he worked with the food bank.
Duke worked in the textile manufacturing industry for many years, in his later years he became the community cab driver in the metro Atlanta area with many customers.
He enjoyed Football, Basketball and Baseball in his spare time.
Benjamin Duke Herring was preceded in death by his late wife Mrs. Aleta Ann Thompson Herring, his brothers Tanner Yarbrough, Jerry Herring and David Hoyt and his sister, Betty Jo Brooks.
His memory shall live on in the life of his family and friends. Among those are his daughter Brook Hancock of Athen Ga His sons Jacques (Trisha) Sanford of Winder, GA. and Marquez (Tamiko) Sanford of Jefferson, Ga. Three sisters: Shirley Ann Taylor of Arden, Fla. Sandra Herring of Greenville, S.C. and Jackie (Michael) Cantrell of Buford, Ga. Four brothers Lawrence Herring Jr., Bobby (Laura) Herring, Sammy (Brenda) Herring all of Gainesville, Ga and Jack (Sharon) Herring of Hawaii Brother and sister-in-law Norah and Valeria Borders, Ronnie and Laura Zachary and Vanessa Thompson Grandkid and a host of nieces, nephews Family and Friends.
