Bernadette Pritchard (Engels) ObituaryBernadette Pritchard, age 96, of Parlin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Born and raised in Jersey City to the late Thomas and Elizabeth Engels, Bernadette later settled in Parlin with her late husband Gilbert, where she has resided since 1955.
A devoted homemaker, Bernadette cherished nothing more than caring for her family. She was deeply devoted to her loved ones and found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was a faithful communicant of St. Bernadette R.C. Church in Parlin and a proud member of St. Bernadette's Rosary Society, where she found strength, community, and friendship.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Gilbert Pritchard; her daughter Linda Pritchard; her grandson Ryan Pritchard; and her daughters-in-law, Eleanor Pritchard and Barbara Pritchard.
She is survived by her children, Robert Pritchard, Gilbert T. and wife Dawn Pritchard, Doreen and husband Edward Dooling, Bernadette and husband Richard Waters, and Brian Pritchard; her nine grandchildren; and her ten great-grandchildren, as well as many loving extended family and friends.
Calling hours at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, will be on Sunday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Funeral services will take place on Monday, 8:45am from the funeral home, with a 9:30am Mass at St. Bernadette R.C. Church in Parlin. A burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
