Irma "Irmie" Alers ObituaryIrma Alers, of Manalapan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge. Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, she was raised in Staten Island before settling in New Jersey, where she and her beloved husband, Nelson, made their home for the last 15 years.
Irma-affectionately known as Irmie-was truly one of a kind. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was the heart and soul of her family. A true jack of all trades, she was a gifted seamstress who could bring any vision to life with her hands. Her creativity also shone through her beautiful paintings.
Irmie's kindness and compassion knew no bounds. Her sense of humor was infectious, and her playful spirit made her a joy to be around-especially for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them and filled their lives with joy, laughter, and love. Her cooking made every holiday memorable, infusing each celebration with warmth and tradition.
Irma's legacy is one of love, creativity, and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Abraham Garcia and Antonia Rodriguez. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Nelson; her children Lissa Andino, Elizabeth Alers Friscia, and Nelson Alers Jr. & his wife Eva; her grandchildren Jessica, Brian, Michael, Joseph, Ashley, Marissa, Alexander, and Brandon; and her 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings Rose, Eva, Hector, Abraham, and Nelson, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
