Joan M Perry ObituaryJoan Margaret Janicker Perry, a lifelong resident of
Sayreville, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in Scotch Plains, surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old.
Born and raised in Sayreville, Joan graduated from Sayreville High School and went on to attend St. Peter's Nursing School in New Brunswick. She lovingly stepped away from her career to devote herself fully to raising her family-whether that meant winning a blue ribbon at the county fair for crocheting her daughter's wedding gown or serving as a dedicated den mother to her son's Cub Scout pack. Her family was always at the heart of everything she did.
Joan was a proud and long-standing member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Lenape Post 211 in Sayreville. Later in life, once her children were grown, she returned to her passion for nursing, earning her license as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She spent 25 years caring for patients at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where she was known for her warmth, dedication, and unwavering compassion. Upon her retirement, she was honored with a plaque that read, "Only a person of your character could leave such a lasting impression in so many hearts." Today, those words ring truer than ever.
Joan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched countless lives with her kindness, strength, and quiet grace. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Arnold Janicker and Barbara Dohn, and her beloved husband, Spencer R. Perry. She is survived by her four children: Richard S. Perry of Sayreville; Barbara Perry Evans and her husband Fred of Hanover, MD; Dr. Robin Perry and her husband Tony Santangelo of Moorestown, NJ; and Bonnie Mannino and her husband Vinnie of Mount Laurel, NJ.
Joan also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren-Michael, Alex, Nicholas, Jessica, Vincent, and Rebecca and her husband James Palumbo-as well as three great-grandchildren: Sadie, Lorenzo, and Dominic. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Janicker of Wappingers Falls, NY; her sister-in-law, Moleta Hall of Manville, NJ; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday from 11am to 1pm at Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main St, Sayreville with burial of her cremated remains at Elmwood Cemetery in North Brunswick, NJ.
