Bernard Albert "Butch" Cremeans, age 84, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025 at Centerburg Pointe Nursing Home.
On January 12, 1941 Butch was born in Huntington, West Virginia. The son of the late George and Grace (Villers) Cremeans. Butch received his education from Huntington High School, graduating with the class of 1959. On February 26, 1961 Butch married his soulmate Rebecca Ruth (Riley) Cremeans. The loving couple shared 64 marvelous years together.
Butch developed a lifelong love for nature and the great outdoors. He found his greatest joy in the quiet stillness of the woods and the gentle ripple of the water. Butch enjoyed hunting with his best friend, Dick Carpenter. Hunting and fishing weren't just hobbies for Butch, they were a way of life. His favorite times of year were deer and rabbit season, when he could be found in his favorite spots, patiently waiting and appreciating the beauty of the land.
Butch also loved spending time on the water at Knox Lake and Clear Fork Reservoir, where many of his happiest memories were made by casting his line, telling stories, and enjoying the simple peace of the outdoors.
In addition to his passion for the outdoors, Butch was an avid collector of knives and guns, taking great pride in the craftsmanship and history behind each piece. His collections reflected his appreciation for skill, precision, and tradition.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife Rebecca R. Cremeans; children: Belinda (Woody) Pinkerton and Bret (Kelly) Cremeans; grandchildren: Lacy (Robert) Gosnell, Cassy (Andrew) Algire, Kacey Pinkerton, Kyle (Jordan) Cremeans, Noah (Kaitlin) Cremeans, Sly (Kazee) Sherman, and Tye Sherman; great-grandchildren: Bailey Gosnell, Tenley Gosnell, Briley Cline, Ava Algire, Everly Algire, Harrison Algire, Mikalya Cremeans, and Corey Cremeans; son-in-law, Tim Sherman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition his parents, Bernard was preceded in death by his daughter, Belisa Sherman; and siblings: Buddy, Louie, and Marie.
Graveside Service will be held at 3PM, Friday October 31, 2025 at Marengo Cemetery, with Celebrant Galen McLeod officiating.
