Bernard Roger Yandow

Bernard Roger Yandow peacefully went to Heaven on September 24, 2024 in Essex two weeks before his 93rd birthday.
He was born in Burlington on October 8, 1931, the son of the late Leon and Lorrette (Poulin) Yandow.
Bernard married Sylvia Recore on July 2, 1955. They were married 40 years when Sylvia passed in 1996. They had 4 sons together.
Bernard was a Veteran of the Korean war. He was a dedicated farmer and beloved business man opening and owning Bernie's Barber Shop on Railroad St in Essex for over 35 years. He operated and owned a John Deere Dealership in Essex Center. Sylvia and Bernie together owned and operated Distinctive Furniture Store on Rte 15 in Essex Center. He also had various real estate ventures including apartments in New York.
Bernard liked to snowmobile with family and friends. He also loved going boating, fishing and going to camp for hunting. His home was his pride and joy. He enjoyed the many hours of mowing his lawn.
Bernie and Sylvia owned a home in Florida they loved to stay in the winter. Bernie continued going after her passing and eventually his friend Dale Boutin of South Burlington joined him until they were unable to because of health reasons.
Bernard leaves his sons Robert of Colchester, Michael (Barb Gilmond) and William (Catherine Fionda) of Essex. His brother Raymond (Elaine) and Roger. 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 1 brother, 1 sister, 4 sisters-in-law and 3 brothers-in-law.
Bernard will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Sylvia, son Louis and grandson Michael Louis Yandow.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, October 10 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, Essex Junction, VT.
A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 11 at 11:30 AM at the First Congregational Church, 37 Main St, Essex Junction, VT with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery on Old Colchester Road, Essex Junction.
The family would like to invite everyone to the VFW on Pearl St, Essex for a luncheon Buffet after the cemetery.
