In Loving Memory of Bernice Arlene Winston Beavers
June 26, 1932 – August 25, 2025
Bernice Arlene Winston Beavers, born in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 26, 1932, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, in Alpharetta, Georgia. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by grace, creativity, and dedicated love for her family and friends.
Bernice earned a bachelor's degree in music from Clark Atlanta University and a master's degree from Illinois Wesleyan University. She began her career as a music teacher in Lanett, Alabama, before marrying William Clifford Beavers. After relocating to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she continued to share her passion for music by teaching piano lessons to children and serving as the beloved organist at her church for 25 years.
In addition to her musical talents, Bernice was a gifted artist, known for her oil paintings featuring barns and landscapes, which she exhibited and sold throughout Oklahoma City. An exceptional cook and gracious hostess, her luncheons and birthday parties were cherished events among her circle of friends. Though quiet and often shy, she enjoyed trading and discussing books, engaging in lively conversations with friends and neighbors, and was fiercely protective of her children.
After 60 years in Oklahoma City, Bernice and Bill moved to the Atlanta suburbs in 2021 to be closer to their daughters and grandson.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Beatrice Winston; her sons, Gregory and Jeffrey; and her devoted husband, William. She is survived by her daughters, Angela (Bernard Washington) and Anna; her grandson, Alexander (Jannette); four great-grandchildren: Malekai, Jeffrey, Aiden, and Hailey, and in-laws, Katie, Ronald, Donald, and Linda.
Her legacy of love, music, and art will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Inspired Living Assisted Living and Memory Care in Alpharetta, Georgia, for their compassionate care and support extended to Bernice and her family over the past two years.
