Bernice (Maillet) Eldredge, affectionately known as Bern, of Falmouth, formerly of Waltham, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at Cape Cod Hospital on April 5, 2022. She was only 58 years old.
Bern was born on June 19, 1963, to the late Stella (LeBlanc) Maillet and Ronald John Maillet, Sr., in Willimantic, CT. She grew up in Waltham, MA with her four siblings and her parents, and her upbringing was a happy one. The family spent their summers boating on Beverly Harbor, the family boat, The Laura Ann II, was like a second home for Bern. Her parents were avid travelers and took their large family with them on their adventures, most memorably their time spent in New Brunswick, Canada during summer vacations. She attended and graduated from Waltham High School, class of 1981, and later married and had children of her own. She worked for many years as marine electronics technician, a job she loved, where she specialized in cable work and building circuit boards. Bern moved to the cape where she would settle down and raise her children by the beach.
Bern was a true beach girl and loved all things the ocean! She continued her love of boating into adulthood where she would love to spend time on her sister's boat, Her Turn. She had a love for lobsters, and truly appreciated all that the ocean had to offer. She was a fantastic cook, most famous for nailing the family potato salad recipe better than anyone else could, and her delicious turnips. Her parent's love of travelling was carried on by Bern and her siblings, and she enjoyed spending time in the Mediterranean, and had a bucket list adventure to Alaska to look forward to for her 59th birthday. She was a music lover, rock and roll and country most of all and was known to create a terrific playlist. More than anything, Bern will be remembered for always helping those around her, not just her family or friends but anyone in need. She would give of her time and resources even when they were in limited supply and never once regretted helping someone in need. Bern adored spending time with her entire family, her children, grandchildren, and siblings, and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Bern is survived by her beloved children, her daughter Danielle Bonilla, and her husband Edgar, of Falmouth, MA, her son, David Eldredge, Jr., of Falmouth, MA; and daughter Olivea Eldredge, and her fiancé, Pedro Oliveira, of Centerville, MA; her siblings, brother Norman Maillet, and his wife, Leona, of Methuen, MA, sister Angela DiEoreo, and her husband Edward, of Manchester, NH, her sister Laura Maillet, of Windham, NH, and brother Ronald Maillet, Jr., of Marlboro, MA; her adored grandchildren, Joshua, Julien, Isaac, Jadien, Penelope, Nora, Christopher, Jensell, Nathysha, Alex, and Alexander; her 5 cherished great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Bern was recently predeceased by her beloved parents, Stella and Ronald Maillet, Sr., and her family takes comfort knowing they are at peace together.
