Bert Edwards Obituary
He was born in 1933 in Henderson, Kentucky, to the late William Harvey Edwards, Jr. and Ruth Mattison Edwards.
He was an Army veteran having served during the Berlin Crisis. He had a legal career that spanned sixty-seven years and he was a successful real estate investor. He was an avid tennis player and former President of the Louisville Boat Club. He was a life-long University of Louisville Cardinals fan. But most importantly, he was a devoted and loving husband and father.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, William Harvey Edwards, III.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Kathy Manninen Edwards; son, Davis Edwards (Steve); daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Maddox (Lee); and granddaughters, Hannah Maddox Rhea (John) and Emily Maddox (Jessee).
His funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held from 10 am – 12 pm on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Ratterman's prior to the service.
Memorial gifts may be made to the University of Louisville School of Law.

Davis,
Because I will be out of town next week, I will be unable to attend the services for Bert. Please know, however, that during our adversarial cases, Bert, unlike some of our colleagues, always represented the epitome of the consummate professional, i.e. he extended respect to clients, counsel and judges; was straight forward; and collegial. Through his steady demeanor and approach, Bert set a standard that all attorneys should strive to emulate.
Please accept my condolences, and, further, extend those to the remainder of your family.

My sincerest condolences to all of Bert´s family, especially Cathy, Dave, and Libby. He lived a long life, and it seems that he was doing what he loved at the end of his life.
