Bertha F. Baldwin, age 89, a resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at D'Youville Life and Wellness Community in Lowell surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Lowell on October 3, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Ernest F. and Florence (Ohnemus) Colbath.
Bertha was raised and educated in Lowell. She resided for more than 60 years in Chelmsford before moving to Dracut with her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Paul Seamans. Bertha was a longtime communicant of Calvary Baptist Church in Lowell and Aldersgate Methodist Church in Chelmsford. She could always be heard humming her favorite church hymns. Every winter she would knit 100 pairs of mittens and booties for every baby for the church.
Bertha loved to spend time with her family as well as her many kittens over the years. She enjoyed many years of round and square dance and reading. She was adventurous. For her 75th birthday she asked Debi to take her for a hot air balloon ride instead of a party. In her 80's she asked for a seaplane ride on Lake Winnipesaukee. Bertha loved to travel the world with her late sister-in-law Pearl and later traveled the US and Canada with Debi, Paul and the "girlfriends". Bertha would dress the part for the monthly themed girlfriends' parties. She would shop at yard sales and consignment shops with her niece Kathy Cole. It was a weekly activity she so enjoyed. She also loved fabric shopping and taking paper quilling classes with Debi.
Bertha was the most resilient women battling two bouts of cancer. Bertha worked for Mrs. Nelson's Candy House for more than 30 years until her retirement at 83. She was able to keep her own home, yard and license to drive until she moved to Dracut when Alzheimer's became too much to be alone. While living in Dracut with Debi, Bertha enjoyed traveling to North Carolina to see her grandson Shane's family and many national parks. They would go on boat rides on Long Pond with family and the neighbors, Karen and Del. Bertha lived at her daughter's home for many years before moving to the Arbors Assisted Living and eventually D' Youville Senior Care, where the caring staff on Commodore Lane loved and cared for Bertha in her final years. A special thank you to CNA Coryn Adams and Beacon Hospice.
Bertha is survived by her three children; Kenneth Baldwin and his wife Renee of Phelan, CA, Debra Seamans and her husband Paul of Dracut, and Lori Baldwin and Bill Laurendeau of Billerica, her three grandchildren; Jeremy Seamans, Shane Seamans and Britni Crotty, her four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased her siblings; Chester, Ernest, Robert, Charles, Gwendolyn, Barbara, Shirley and Cynthia. She was also predeceased by the father of her children Everett S. "Whitey" "Popeye" Baldwin who passed away in 2020.
At the expressed request of Bertha Funeral Service and Interment were held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to D' Youville Life Wellness Community at dyouville.org.

Debra, Lori and Kennenth, I think I only met Debra. The stories and history of your Mom and Dad are known by so many. I knew and remembered your Dad from my Hanscom days, and I believe at Hanscom after I retired. Drivers of the Lowell Road Runner (who help me) knew the Candy House and your mom. Converstions abound when they cam to pick me up at your childhood home. I am sorry for your loss and greatful to hear great stories of your folks, thats a legacy. My heartfelt comfort/prayers. Terry D and Serv.Animal Major. always here for visitors....
