Bertha Blamey Obituary
Memorial Services in celebration of her life will be held on March 14, 2022, from 5-6 p.m. at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home in Clarksville, TN.
Interment will be held in a private service in Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Gloucester, Virginia on March 19, 2022.
Bertha was born on June 15, 1941, in Gloucester County, VA. She was the daughter of the late Stanley R. Greene, Sr. and Jennie W. Greene who raised a family of nine children of which Bertha was the third.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. William "Bill" Blamey; brothers, Stanley R. Green, Jr. (Bernice) and Ellis E. Greene (Mavis).
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her daughter, Jennifer Thomas (Indiana); her sisters, Virginia Harrison (Woody) of Mechanicsville, VA., Margaret Marris (Ben) of Gloucester, VA., Helen Robinson (Wayne) of Williamsburg, VA., and Sandra Loveland (David) of Gloucester; brothers, Dennis Greene (Annette) of Gloucester, and Timothy Greene of Gloucester. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Jordan Laplant and Jenna Laplant; two great-grandchildren, Brantley Laplant and Marcina Melton. In addition, her life was made very special by William "Bill" Johnston, devoted companion.
In her early years, Bertha was employed by Eastern State Hospital, Williamsburg, Virginia. Bertha was a member of the Degree of Pochanotes, the women's affiliate of the Improved Order of Red Men.

Bert was a good neighbor and friend, will miss the phone call and our long conversations , across the fence, my neighbor since 1999, Jennifer will keep you and family in my prayers.

To the Jennifer and to the entire family you have our deepest condolences. We are really going to miss our neighbor. I call her my friend we had so many conversation and laughter about life and the world in which we live. I will truly miss seeing her working in her yard she would often see me come outside or I would see her what would be a few minutes turn into an hour or we would and have a coke. She reminded me of my deceased grandmother and her love for coke cola!!She was a strong and very independent woman,but warm and kind hearted.Whenever I went out of town I had her to keep an eye on our home and she would too with her Eagle eyes I and will never forget Bert ,and I will forever cherish our memories we made together RIP!
