Betsy I. Shipley, age 70, passed away at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, on November 16, 2025.
She was born February 9, 1955 to Stanley and Ann (Hough) Gardner in Council Bluffs, IA. Betsy attended Underwood High School.
Betsy was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend. She touched the lives of many with her profound sense of humor, warmth, creativity, curiosity, and gregarious, outgoing nature. Betsy was a generous friend with an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. She possessed a brilliant mind, disarming wit, and an empathetic heart. She had a rare gift of building community wherever she found herself.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Gardner.
Betsy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy & Shella Wenninghoff; daughter and son-in-law, Jillian & Larry Stover; son, Alex Shipley; grandchildren, Makenzie Wenninghoff, Kohl Wenninghoff, Natalie Sardiña, Corbin Stover, Joci Blair, Izzie Stover, Grace Blair, and Paisley Ipo; great granddaughter, Holly Wenninghoff; a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Sunday, November 23, 2025. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to CARES Foundation https://caresfoundation.org
